DO YOU HAVE A LOVED ONE SUFFERING FROM AN ADDICTION?
By Brittany Albright MD, MPH
We feel you and we see you. You likely suffer and hurt just as much as your loved one. Fortunately, help is here and there are many resources in the Charleston / Mount Pleasant / Isle of Palms SC area.
For family recovery support, we highly recommend Charleston Al-Anon meetings (virtual and in person), Friends in Recovery Community family support virtual meetings, and Karen Perlmutter LISW-CP’s in person and virtual Families Facing addiction program: Empowering Families Who Face Addiction. This is a 10-week course designed to equip families with the practical tools to navigate the complex journey of addiction and recovery.
For families interested in having a an intervention for a loved one or needing case management services, we recommend Torchlight Interventions & Consulting: https://www.torchlightinterventions.com/. “As an Interventionist and Case Manager, John assists families who have a family member suffering with substance use disorder and/or a mental health crisis to present the affected person with an opportunity to receive professional help for their affliction in the form of inpatient treatment and the implementation of a strong post-treatment program of Continuing Care through a hands-on approach to Case Management.
In addition, he helps the family to find their own recovery by connecting them with resources, and educating them on addiction and mental health conditions, thereby bringing the entire family system into unison and healing.”
If your loved one is ready for outpatient addiction treatment with psychotherapy and/or medication management (including Suboxone, buprenorphine, naltrexone, Sublocade), we recommend scheduling an appt with our addiction fellowship trained psychiatrist, Dr. Layne Gritti DO at Sweetgrass Psychiatry and calling (843) 800-1303 as well as filling out our new patient intake form. Confidential, virtual treatment is available.
