Dr. Walton is double board-certified in adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina, where she majored in biological sciences and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Her passion for the art and science of medicine led her to pursue her medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Columbia. She then completed her general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where she served as chief fellow in her final year.

During her training, Dr. Walton gained extensive experience across diverse clinical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, telepsychiatry, and emergency psychiatry. She worked in specialized clinics such as women’s reproductive behavioral health, student mental health at MUSC and the College of Charleston, and general mental health at the VA. Dr. Walton is trained in multiple psychotherapeutic modalities and incorporates evidence-based therapeutic techniques into her treatment plans.

Recognizing that every individual’s circumstances and lifestyle are unique, Dr. Walton takes a collaborative, holistic approach to care. She emphasizes behavioral and lifestyle changes as foundational for improving mental health and adopts a conservative approach to medication management when appropriate.
